Integrating Sphere System

In the rapidly developing world of LEDs, accurate measurement is key. It is important both in the development of new lighting products and in ensuring consistent production quality. Metrue provides professional, turnkey measurement solutions for LED packages that are ideal for both laboratory and production settings. Metrue is capable of providing everything you will need to fully characterize LED packages: both the optical and electrical properties of your LED’s. Our equipment is highly accurate, convenient to operate, and can be purchased individually or as a complete light measurement system.

 

Integrating spheres are used to spatially integrate the total radiant flux from a luminaire. From the total radiant flux, key photometric and radiometric quantities such as spectral power distribution, total luminous flux, chromaticity coordinates, correlated color temperature, color rendering index, and so on can be measured with a spectroradiometer. Metrue spectroradiometers use scientific grade, holographic, concave gratings to ensure accurate results.

 

Integrating spheres must be large enough to guarantee measurements of LED packages are correct. The size of a sphere necessary for a measurement depends on the properties of the luminaire being measured. For 4π geometry, the total surface area of the luminaire should represent less than 2% of the interior sphere surface area. In a 2π geometry, the diameter of the opening should not exceed one third of the diameter of the sphere. In addition, the sphere should be large enough to prevent significant temperature increases during testing. Careful design by Metrue ensures repeatable and accurate results.

 

With our programmable LED power supply, key electrical properties such as forward voltage, forward current, reverse voltage, reverse current, and others can be measured while providing stable and precise power to the LED package. When combined with an integrating sphere and spectroradiometer, properties like the luminous efficacy of the source LED can be determined.

 

Combining these devices is made effortless with our in-house software that comes with the system and integrates the control and measurement of both the spectroradiometer and the programmable LED power supply into one simple to use interface.

 

Our flexible design allows the users to perform both pulse and steady state measurements in one system. The applicable LED packages includes high-power, medium-power and low-power LEDs, and the types includes DIP, SMD, COB, S-COB, etc.

Goniophotometer System
The spatial luminous distribution is very significant to LED products, as we need to check if the luminous intensity distribution, beam angle, and/or CBCP conforms to the requirements of the relevant standards or customer needs. These quantities are measured by a goniophotometer which consistes of a goniometer and a photometer.
 
In addition, it is not uncommon for LED products to have spatial color non-uniformity. This non-uniformity can significantly affect the final lighting quality. The Energy Star Criteria both for lamps and luminaires has strict specifications on such optical properties, thus one must accurately measure it with a goniospectroradiometer which consistes of a goniometer and an array spectroradiometer.
 
Metrue have two types of Goniophotometer & Goniospectroradiometer for general purpose LED lighting products.
 
MGO-300R Goniophotometer & Goniospectroradiometer
MGO-300R is a type C goniophotometer that fully meets the requirements of both LM-75 and LM-79 IES standards. It is specially designed for professional labs. To this end, it has been designed for high accuracy and with the ability to perform variety of different measurements. This allows the MGO-300R to fully characterize many kinds of lamps and luminaires.
 
MGO-200H Goniophotometer & Goniospectroradiometer
MGO-200H can realize both CIE B-β and C-γ measurement solutions which are the most widely applied measurement schemes in industrial labs. MGO-200H has a simple but robust mechanical structure that allows for convenient, easy-to-use operation. The system combines a high precision goniometer with a top of the line photosenor.
 
EMC Testers
Both the LED itself and the circuit including driver, are very sensitive to electromagnetic disruption or damage. Metrue can provide a series of instrument for the EMC immunity test.
